Project Abstract:
Six teams of three engineering students will each
design and build a small autonomous mobile robot that will play a game of
"capture the flag" in an arena. The robot must conform to a set of rules and regulations to allow team games to be played
with other robots. The final competition will feature games where a pair
of robots will need to cooperate while competing against two other
robots.
Students from the Dept. of
Electronics and the Dept. of
Systems and Computer Engineering at Carleton University will work together
within the teams. Two design positions (electrical and software) and a managerial & system design position are
available, with all students contributing to design and construction
components outside their field of expertise.
The course is a major project in engineering analysis, design,
development and research. The objective is to provide an opportunity to
develop initiative, self-reliance, creative ability and engineering
judgement. A project proposal, weekly team meetings, several interim
reports, two design reviews, an oral presentation, a technical
demonstration, and a comprehensive final report are required.
